Pyjamarama is coming up!

Thank you to Cassiana, Jacob and Maddy for speaking at assembly on Friday, June 3rd. Here's what they had to say...

Jacob- I'm Jacob from 3/4C and I'm a Junior School Council representative. On Friday June 17th the Junior School Council will be having a fundraiser called PYJAMARAMA! On this day we will be able to wear our Pyjamas OR Animal Onesies. I’m going to be wearing a Pokemon Pikachu suit for Pyjamarama.

Cassiana-  I’m Cassiana from 5/6H and I am also a Junior School Representative. On Pyjamarama we ask you to bring a gold coin donation for our fundraiser. This fundraiser will be raising money for The Thin Green Line Foundation. This gives money to the rangers in Africa to help protect the animals and help stop poachers. I’m going to be my wearing my pyjamas on this day.

Jacob- On this day we have the opportunity to order a chocolate Big M or strawberry Big M and a jam donut or iced donut. These orders cost $4 and need to be in by Tuesday the 14th of June. The order forms were sent by email. You can also pay by QKR.

Cassiana- Please remember to wear your PYJAMAS or animal onesies on Friday June 17th and to bring a gold coin donation or you can also donate on QKR.

They're Official!

Our three JSC fundraisers for the year have been approved!
Here they are!

Friday, June 17th - Pyjamarama
Wear your pyjamas or your animal onesie. We are raising money for The Thin Green Line which helps rangers around the world to protect animals from poachers.

Friday, August 26th - Make-A-Wish Disco
Our third annual disco will raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which grants wishes for seriously ill children.

Friday, October 28th - Career Day (with a twist)
Come dressed as what you want to be when you grow up. The twist is that staff dress as school kids! We are raising money for Paediatric Home and Community Care Program, which is a local Geelong foundation. It allows nurses to continue caring for children in their homes once they have been discharged from hospital.

Little Councillors Meet Big Councilors

On Monday, May 16th, three slightly nervous JSC members spoke at School Council to ask for permission to run our fundraisers this year. Markus, Taeya and Megan all spoke clearly, confidently and knowledgeably and they made all of the big people very proud. Congratulations to you all! The best news of all is that all of our activities have been approved!

Thanks very much to mums, dads and nans who brought the children along right at one of the busiest times of the day. What a wonderful team effort. :)

Saturday, 14 May 2016

Have been involved in any fundraising in our community? If so, let Mrs Bennett or Miss Brislane know, and we will acknowledge your effort with a certificate at assembly!

Bully Busters - June 15

This year Lara PS JSC has been invited by Lara Secondary College's SRC (Student Representative Council) to join them in running a Bully Busters afternoon. The 3-6 children will have an extended lunchtime and will be involved in activities run by JSC members, SRC members and staff to promote inclusiveness. This means we want everybody to feel like they belong, are valued and feel included.

This week JSC members will be surveying children to find out the sorts of activities they would like to have on the day.

Thanks to the Junior School Councillors who recently met with LSC representatives to plan the day.

Shave for a Cure

These two girls both raised money for the Leukaemia Foundation's 'World's Greatest Shave'. What a wonderful achievement girls - particularly for Taeya, who shaved off her lovely locks! We think it suits her!

Introducing Junior School Council Representatives 2016

It was a very proud group of children who collected their JSC certificates at assembly.
