Once again, there was a serious side to the fun, as we raised money for cancer research. Thanks to Miss Brislane and the JSC for organising this super fun day, and thanks to the hairdressers, who made some monumental efforts to create amazingly crazy hair.
Our Junior School Council is comprised of 17 very eager and caring children who are committed to making the world a better place! They organise three fundraisers each year and these are three of the best days in the school year! Money raised supports very worthy causes - so get behind the kids and support their efforts!

CRAZY HAIR DAY
JSC's final fundraiser for the year was held on Thursday, October 29th, and it was a ripper! Crazy Hair Day is always one that the kids go...well...crazy for!

Make-A-Wish Disco
Friday, August 28th created much excitement at LPS, as the Junior School Council ran our 2nd Annual Make-A-Wish Disco.
There were two discos - one for P-2, and one for 3-6.
Thanks to Steve Ford from Geelong DJ Sound for a really professional sound and light show. Thanks to Ann and Rosa for working hard in the canteen baking leading up to the night, and flat out on the night. Thanks to the many staff (and Ian) who stayed late, dressed up (thanks, Miss Rankin!), joined in, had fun, all whilst providing great supervision. Big thanks to parents and carers for braving the cold to deliver children to and from the discos (many twice!). And, of course, thanks to the children of Lara PS for joining in the fun with the right spirit.
Yes, we had lots of fun, but the real reason for our disco was to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of children with life-threatening conditions.
We will also be granting a wish within our own school community.
Check out the photos below. :-)

A donation to a worthy cause...
Today, Friday June 19th, we found out what JSC is really all about.
Three Junior School Councillors proudly presented cheques* to two families within our school community who have gratefully received the wonderful services provided by the doctors, nurses, surgeons and specialists from the Royal Children's Hospital.
Thanks for your support, everybody! A fun day, for a fabulous cause, with an awesome result!
* The cheques were just pretend - the real donation of $844 was made online. :)

Junior Councillors Meet Senior Councillors
School Council has never been so youthful as the evening when two Junior School Councillors popped in. The brother and sister duo informed the School Council of the success of PJ Day and also requested their approval for our two remaining fundraisers - a disco in August and Crazy Hair Day in October. They spoke clearly, confidently and made us (and their watching Mum) very proud!

PJ Day
Our first fundraiser for the year was PJ Day on Thursday, June 4th. Year after year, our Junior School Councillors elect to conduct this day. And why not? It's the cosiest day of the year! This year, again, there were jim-jams, PJs and onesies everywhere you looked. Children gave a gold coin donation and Ann offered a special deal for the day - iced or jam donut, and strawberry or chocolate Big M. And the wet weather gave us the perfect excuse for a lazy day inside. We raised $844 which we will be donating to the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation. Thanks for your support, everyone!
